
OFFICIAL RULES

Closed Categories: All closed divisions will be invigilated using the current NDCA list of elements and restrictions. Penalties may be given without warning for any syllabus infractions.

A minimum of 5 single dance entries (4 for Smooth) must be entered in the same style and level for each scholarship entered. Credit Voucher Prize Awards will be valid towards any entries or packages in the subsequent year.

Top Teacher Minimum 100 Adult Full Price Entries
Teachers do not have to be on a package to be eligible for Top Teacher awards.
In the event of a tie, prize money for consecutive placements will be combined and dividedProficiency entries will be awarded a maximum of 1 point per entry for Top Teacher contest.
Uncontested events receive full points. Lady Teachers that qualify for both Overall and Top Lady placements shall receive the higher of the two prize checks, but will be recognized for placing in both categories.

Discounted entries such as Junior or Youth will receive 1/2 Credit for Minimums and Points.

Proficiency entries will only count at 1 point per entry for Top Teacher contest. No placement points will be awarded. Discounted entries count as 1/2.

Amateur Events: Syllabus Amateur Couples are restricted to syllabus material. Costumes are ALLOWED except for pre-teens. See the NDCA rulebook for details. There are no restrictions in the Adult Amateur Novice, Pre-Champ or Championship divisions.

Entry Deadline: The hosts cannot accept responsibility for accuracy of entries submitted after the deadline date. Any payments made after the deadline must be in the form of cash, cashiers check, money order or credit card. Entries submitted after the deadline may be subject to late entry

Cancellations & Refunds: The deadline for cancellation refunds without penalty is two (2) weeks prior to the event. A letter requesting refund of payments must follow cancellations. All refunds will be made 30 days following the event. No refunds will be made if cancellation is made within two (2) weeks of the event. Cancelled entries taken at the event cannot be substituted by another entry. There are no refunds or exchanges on packages or admission tickets.

​Registration Requirements: All competitors are required to register with the National Dance Council of America (NDCA).

No responsibility for loss or theft of articles left in the changing rooms, performance or seating areas, can be accepted by the Colorado Star Ball or by the National Dance Council of America, Inc. and neither can they be held liable for injury sustained by persons attending this event. Everyone attending does so at his or her own risk.

​All persons attending this event, whether as spectators, competitors, officials or guests, shall be bound by the National Dance Council of America, Inc. Rules and Regulations, and by participating in this event automatically become obliged to adhere to them. Additionally, the hosts reserve the right to refuse admittance into the ballroom and/or entry in a competitive event.
